翻訳を自ら行うということ

試しに“理由の連鎖”の最後のパラグラフをGoogle翻訳に
通してみると、次のようになる。

Perhaps the word human error should restore the original meaning
of "fluctuation width introduced to the body without organs".

自分でつけた訳が

Perhaps the word "human error" should recover the original meaning,
"deflection installed to body without organs".

であるから、なんかもうアレだ。

自分で翻訳することの意義は、どの言語でも、各表現への
こだわりを突き通すことに見出すくらいしかなくなるのかも
しれない。
restoreとrecover、fluctuation widthとdeflection、
introducedとinstalled、theの入れ方、二重引用符の付け方。
それらはいずれも理由付けによるしかない。
それを続けるには、日本語も英語ももっと大量の文章に
触れるしかないのだろう。
